Left the house in 19 luxurious degrees fahrenheit, but the mercury cracked the 20 barrier for the average. 46 miles at average temp of 24. 6 points (1 point for mileage > temp, 2 points for each 10 mile increment that mileage exceed average temp, doubled due to average temp in the 20s).
Tale of the tape, clothes-wise. Smartwool ski socks, Under Armour cold gear t-neck and bibs for base layer. Fleece zip neck as insulation layer. Sporty new Cannondale tights (I broke down and got new ones, they're mint), Voler thermal team jacket, Bellwether overshoes, fleece neck gator, fleece beanie, snowboarding mittens and Vaseline on my face. Perfectly dressed.
I chunked the final sprint to Sangamore. Didn't really do too well on the climb out of Great Falls either. I was always in the mix, I just wasn't important to the mix. Probably attributable to yesterday's slightly epic ride with Greg and Drew. After a short time at work yesterday I realized that I would go bonkers if I slammed my head into that wall anymore, smoked the tires on the way out of the lot and met those donkeys for what very predictably turned into something a shade hotter than what was advertised. Whatever.
