Out for the big show. Registration numbers look great at 176. Really wanted to crack 200 but there's still time.

I honestly never in my life wanted to promote a race. In fact I quite wanted not to promote a race. Still not sure how this whole thing happened. Oh well, if I have to do it once in life I'd guess that the way things have gone so far is about how I'd like them to have gone. We've done some cool stuff like the logo and the t-shirts and bottles. I'm really happy with those, since most races don't really get there. I also think that our race numbers are ridiculously cool. Some of the things that won't be seen until the races are on are really cool but I won't spoil any surprises.

The biggest challenge has to have been taking it from scratch. Everything on the ground was done from square one. The administrative side, if you just use the systems that are in place, make getting creative with "your" race pretty easy. Just communicate with the right people early and often. We are fortunate to have people like Kevin Long, Jim Patton, Tony Del Negro, Mimi Newcastle and Susie Diller on the case from the USAC side. They've all contributed a lot and some of them have a lot more left to do this weekend. The officiating team we have coming out is all star, and for that I am really grateful.

One of the best things to happen so far is that the budget ALMOST balances. If I manage not to lose any of NCVC's money on this thing they're buying my ass a team frame next year. You hear that Myron??? I worked my ass off to keep our money close to where it should be. Hook a brother up!

The list of NCVC and Hardy County people to whom I owe a debt of gratitude is astonishing. Suffice it to say that my job will only be half over when the race is done as I'll have a lot of thank yous to write.

Saturday's Tour stage ought to be a barn burner, the perfect complement to what we've got going on. If you're out there, be sure to go to The Guest House as they're showing the stage after our race is over.

Except for my grandmother's funeral, tomorrow will be my first day off since Hatteras last fall. I have to stop doing that. I like work but really not that much.
